Yoga is a journey of the body, mind and spirit. It is a science that incorporates a broad range of practices and techniques of which the three main are:-

Postures  are called ‘Asanas’ in Sanskrit
Breathwork is called ‘ Pranyama’ in Sanskrit

Meditation  is called ‘ Yoga Nidra’ in Sanskrit

A ‘Yogi’ is someone who practices yoga
Inspired by the landscape, elements, animals, birds and plants yogis developed asanas and pranyama  to enhance a deep practise of meditation.  This allows the yogi to connect to the inner self, eventually reaching the goal of connecting to the higher self , thereby reaching a state of grace.

Today we use these techniques mainly for mental and health benefits which are achieved through regular practice.
